Question No. 14

M:  I’m hungry. Let’s stop for lunch and then finish shopping.

W:  Well, I really need to go to the bank first though.

M:  OK, let’s do that. There’s one inside the mall at the other end, right?

W:  Yeah, I saw it when we came in.

M:  Let’s find a restaurant down there then.

W:  OK.

Question No. 15

W:  Good morning, Southside Medical Center.

M:  Yes, I’d like to make an appointment today to see Dr. Johnson.

W:  All right. He has an opening today at 10:30.

M:  Hmm. I can’t make it by then. What about tomorrow?

W:  I’ll check. Well, 11:00, 4:30, and 6:00 are available.

M:  I’ll take the morning one then.

Question No. 16

W:  Can you wrap this right away? It’s a gift.

M:  Sorry, you’ll have to wait. The Christmas wrapping counter is very busy.

W:  Actually, it’s a birthday gift, and I’m late for the party.

M:  You can get it wrapped on the second floor.

W:  That’s all right. I’ll take it as it is.

Questions No. 17 to 19

W:  What’s this graph?

M:  It’s the teachers’ long-jump results from the sports festival last year. We’ll have the freshmen guess how far the teachers jumped.

W:  I wasn’t there last year. Let me try.

M:  OK. They jumped twice. The graph shows the combined results for each teacher.

W:  I bet Mr. Jones jumped the farthest.

M:  No, it was Ms. Smith. Mr. Jones’ total was three meters.

W:  Oh, really. Ms. Lim probably didn’t jump very far.

M:  She jumped three and a half meters first, but then only one meter. She tied for third with Mr. King. Ms. Brown had the hardest time. She came in last.

W:  How about Mr. Davis?

M:  His first jump wasn’t very good, but his second jump was great, so he came in second place.

W:  There’s one more. Who jumped two and a half meters?

M:  Ms. Elliot.

W:  Well, that was fun. I think the students will like it.
