Questions No. 34 and 35

David: Hey, Mom! Let’s go to Mt. Taka tomorrow. We’ve always wanted to go there.

Sue: Well, I’m tired from work. I want to stay home tomorrow.

David: Oh, too bad. Can I go by myself, then?

Sue: What? People always say you should never go hiking alone. What if you get lost?

David: Yeah, I thought that way too, until I read a magazine article on solo hiking.

Sue: Huh. What does the article say about it?

David: It says it takes more time and effort to prepare for solo hiking than group hiking.

Sue: OK.

David: But you can select a date that’s convenient for you and walk at your own pace. And imagine the sense of achievement once you’re done, Mom!

Sue: That’s a good point.

David: So, can I hike up Mt. Taka by myself tomorrow?

Sue: David, do you really have time to prepare for it?

David: Well, I guess not.

Sue: Why not wait until next weekend when you’re ready? Then you can go on your own.

David: OK, Mom.

Questions No. 36 and 37

Mary: Yay! We all got jobs downtown! I’m so relieved and excited.

Jimmy: You said it, Mary! So, are you going to get a place near your office or in the suburbs?

Mary: Oh, definitely close to the company. I’m not a morning person, so I need to be near the office. You should live near me, Lisa!

Lisa: Sorry, Mary. The rent is too expensive. I want to save money. How about you, Kota?

Kota: I’m with you, Lisa. I don’t mind waking up early and commuting to work by train. You know, while commuting I can listen to music.

Jimmy: Oh, come on, you guys. We should enjoy the city life while we’re young. There are so many things to do downtown.

Mary: Jimmy’s right. Also, I want to get a dog. If I live near the office, I can get home earlier and take it for longer walks.

Lisa: Mary, don’t you think your dog would be happier in the suburbs, where there’s a lot more space?

Mary: Yeah, you may be right, Lisa. Hmm, now I have to think again.

Kota: Well, I want space for my training equipment. I wouldn’t have that space in a tiny downtown apartment.

Jimmy: That might be true for you, Kota. For me, a small apartment downtown is just fine. In fact, I’ve already found a good one.

Lisa: Great! When can we come over?
